CORONA n EXTRA

I’m taking some time off binge-watching FRIENDS on Netflix, to write this blog. Cause frankly I’m laughing too much and my back hurts sitting at a very weird angle on the sofa.😝 I need some change in atmosphere and posture. Also, I haven’t written anything in a loooonngggg time so I have to check if my brain is still functioning well. You can let me know how I fared in the comments below.🙈 Let me just give a tiny insight of what I feel about this messy situation going on in the world and how I cope with it.

Humans are considered as the most superior, intelligent and brilliant species on planet Earth. But it greatly amazes me, how a tiny speck of a microscopic ‘agent’ which we don’t even consider as a living thing has brought these ‘so-called superior’ species onto their knees. The World’s greatest nations, USA, China, UK, Australia are in the verge of collapsing, people all over the world are dying by thousands, people are out of jobs, out of food and people’s mental health is facing great risk. It is a very pathetic and depressing situation indeed.

But on a rather different aspect, the sky is getting more clearer, noise is reduced, dolphins are swimming everywhere, turtles are hatching and going to the sea, wild animals roam about freely and everywhere is so calm and serene. It’s as if nature has punished us and asked us to go to the corner and think about what we have done. We clearly have been given a TIME-OUT! 😒

It has been almost a month (I think. Cause I don’t really keep track of dates right now.🙆), since I’ve been home with no Uni and nothing else to do. But I somehow, am still not bored to death at home, as I have certain stuff going on that keep me occupied and entertained. (This doesn’t mean that I’m having fun, meanwhile many people in the world are in distress.😔 It means I have found some ways to keep me happy rather than going craaazyyyy)😊.

The highlight of me being at home is that I COOK!!! When scrolling through Instagram, what I always see is, either COVID-19 updates or FOOD! So, I try to attempt to make some of this food, following the many influencers on Insta or the awesome Sri Lankan aunties on Youtube who do cooking tutorials. And I’m getting pretty good at it. (My fam approves 💁) So far, I have learnt to make short crust pastry, pies, tarts, fish roti, fresh bread, biryani, etc. Ugh. I’m getting hungry now. 😒 And I also want to make fresh hand-made pasta, but I’m afraid if it’ll fail and I’d waste ingredients. But we shall see.😬

And another thing that I’ve started trying out is YOGA. I have constant back pains and neck pains (My fam and friends know this, due to my incessant complaining 😖), and since I’ve started doing Yoga, I’ve felt more comfortable and relaxed. I think Yoga is a very underrated form of exercise in SL, but it is very relaxing once you start doing it. I am very interested to explore it more and make my crooked body a bit into shape. Also, on the subject of self-love, I have been experimenting some DIY face masks. Girls, try out ‘gram flour + turmeric + yogurt’ for glowing skin.👌 You’re welcome.😏

I’ve always enjoyed reading. So, I have been reading some BOOKS. I am a huge fan of Agatha Christie. I have read many of her books. But during this period, I’ve finished reading ‘The ABC Murders’. I didn’t enjoy this as much as her other books cause there was less suspense and Poirot solved the murder by himself with very little clues! 💁  Also I’ve started reading ‘The Bachelor of Arts’ by R.K.Narayan. It seems very interesting and different to what I usually read. It has a more oriental aspect and a plot similar to our culture.

Meanwhile my family has been into GARDENING. My dad spends most of the day time outside, cleaning the garden, making beds and my mom waters them. And me and my dad sowed some seeds; Long beans, Ladies finger, Chilli and Brinjal recently. I’m ashamed to say that I’m not as into gardening as my parents, being an undergraduate of Agriculture. But it’s something that I should definitely explore and take up.😶

As people who follow a routine in ordinary life, we tend to get very confused on what to do with our life in these situations. But we should be grateful for what we have in our life, for family, food, shelter and good health and we should live our life counting our blessings.💗 We are very privileged to be having food at home and sound health while many people in the world are not. So, enjoy life while helping the under-privileged as much as you can. Let’s come out of this quarantine having a very positive mindset. Let’s continue our work better than before while utilizing the resources in the environment as a PRIVILEGE and not a resource that we manipulate to our benefit. Let’s learn to care more about people, animals, trees, air, water, soil and nature as a whole. 🌍 I wish the world heals faster, people get recovered quicker and the heroes at the front line and also who work behind the scenes tirelessly to eradicate COVID-19 be stronger and safer. 💗

And don’t forget, future is very fragile. Our lives are too. Always be humble. Grateful. Positive. Enjoy the present cause we can’t predict the future. Live your life with no regrets.😃 Stay safe. 💗Stay indoors. And ALWAYS, & I can't stress this enough, ALWAYSSSS WASH YOUR HANDS!!!
